Ubuntu installation: failed to fetch packages

Installing python-3-graph-tool inside this docker file following the Debian/Ubuntu installation instructions.

Met with the following error during the docker build, as of 2023-03-22T00:00:00Z:

#6 35.56 Err:7 http://downloads.skewed.de/apt bionic/main amd64 Packages
#6 35.56 404 Not Found [IP: 49.12.93.194 80]
#6 35.57 Ign:8 http://downloads.skewed.de/apt bionic/main all Packages
#6 35.84 Reading package lists...
#6 37.57 E: Failed to fetch http://downloads.skewed.de/apt/dists/bionic/main/binary-amd64/Packages 404 Not Found [IP: 49.12.93.194 80]
#6 37.57 E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Upon checking, I noticed the repo at https://downloads.skewed.de/apt/dists/bionic/ is in fact empty.

Tried:

  • Double checking on another PC and with creator of original repo to confirm the issue.
  • Changing http://downloads to https://downloads as in the installation instructions, no effect.
  • Using another Ubuntu distribution (kinetic instead of bionic) for which the repo at https://downloads.skewed.de/apt/dists/kinetic/ is non empty, resulted in successful graph tool install.

This has now been fixed.

Hi @tiago
We have just come across a similar issue. We use the buster distro and currently the buster folder has recently gone empty causing our builds to fail. See Index of /apt/dists/buster

I was about to post we’re experiencing this issue as well since last week but it looks like it has been fixed already for buster!

I’ve hunted down the cause of the problem and fixed it. This should be working now for all repositories.
